    What happens when you convert a PDF to text

    The portable document format. Fixed layout, universal, and the reason everyone can open the file you send them. The text layer of each page is read out in reading order and stitched together, dropping the layout but keeping the words. The result is a one table, one row per line, values separated by commas. the most importable format there is, produced entirely inside your browser.

    What actually happens to my PDF file when I convert it to CSV?

    The text layer of each page is read out in reading order and stitched together, dropping the layout but keeping the words. So the PDF file is unpacked, the content is laid out, and the result is written out as CSV. The text, in the order the page presents it survives unchanged.

    Will converting PDF to CSV reduce the quality?

    Partly. Some formatting is approximated because the two formats describe layout differently. The text itself is never re-typed, so no words are lost.

    Is my PDF file uploaded to a server?
